Dheeraj_PandeyDheeraj Pandey,
CEO, Nutanix

Dheeraj is the Founder, CEO and Chairman of Nutanix. He brings a wealth of experience of working at high growth enterprise software companies. Prior to founding Nutanix, Dheeraj was the VP of Engineering at Aster Data (now Teradata), where he helped build the product and its engineering team from the ground up. At Oracle, he managed the storage engine group for Oracle Database/Exadata, and co-authored numerous patents in the area of distributed databases. Dheeraj’s entrepreneurial spirit has been recognized with a number of prestigious awards including Dell’s Founders 50 and the E&Y Entrepreneur of the Year, Silicon Valley. Dheeraj is a Ph.D. dropout from University of Texas (Austin), where he was a Graduate Fellow of CS. He holds a BS in CS from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT, Kanpur), where he was adjudged the “Best All-Rounder Student Among All Graduating Students in All Disciplines” and bestowed with the Distinguished Alumnus Award.


Ramesh Srinivasan,
CEO, Ooyala

Ramesh Srinivasan is CEO of Ooyala. He oversees all aspects of Ooyala’s strategy and operations. Before joining Ooyala, Ramesh was President and Chief Executive Officer of Innotrac, a leading provider of e-commerce solutions for digital retailers, where he oversaw the company’s merger with eBay Enterprise. He also spent nine years with Bally Technologies (NYSE: BYI – later merged with Scientific Games), maker of advanced technology-based casino games and systems, where he rose from Executive Vice President for Systems to President and COO and then to CEO. During his tenure, the annual revenue run rate for the company grew from $500 million to $1.2 billion, while its share price increased eight-fold. Prior to joining Bally, Ramesh was EVP at Manhattan Associates (Nasdaq: MANH), a premier Supply Chain Solutions Provider. During his seven years at Manhattan, Ramesh’s results-based performance led his to his elevation from Director to Senior Director, VP, SVP and EVP, while the company’s annual revenues grew by approximately 500%. At Manhattan, Ramesh was responsible for building a world class Product Development and Support Center in India and his leadership in multiple areas, including cost effective Global R&D, Customer Support, Professional and Technical Services was instrumental in positioning Manhattan as a technology industry leader.

Ramesh holds an MBA (PGDM) from the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore, India and a Bachelor of Technology degree from the Indian Institute of Technology, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, India.


Alok_MahajanAlok Mahajan,
Partner at KPMG

Alok Mahajan is a Partner with KPMG and serves as Silicon Valley and Bay Area leader for Economic & Valuation Services practice. His practice advises various VC backed companies and top tier tech companies in context of M&A, transfer pricing and other economic matters. Within his firm Alok is considered one of the national leaders for valuations in the Technology and Venture Capital sectors. His projects have ranged from valuations for transaction/strategic purposes, controversy/dispute resolution to compliance purposes (tax and financial reporting). He currently serves on (and is past Chair of) KPMG’s Valuation Services Technical Committee (VSTC) and also serves on the Appraisal Practices Board (APB) of The Appraisal Foundation (TAF), Washington D.C. Anand Jangannathan,

He has founded and led four successful companies prior to NewzSocial, two of which have gone public – Banyan Systems (BNYN, networking pioneer) and Responsys (MKTG, leader in online marketing), and two which were acquired – Reach Software (workflow and email) and iStorez (online shopping). He holds 3 patents in computer technology.Anand received a Ph.D. and Masters in Computer Science from Rice University, and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT/K), Kanpur.


Shivani Govil,

Shivani Govil is a senior executive with a passion for driving revenues and scaling new businesses. She played an instrumental role in building SAP’s business in key growth areas such as mobile, big data and analytics. Shivani brings a unique combination of technology expertise, business acumen and user centric design thinking to drive innovations across sales, products, business models and customer engagement – delivering amazing business results. Vishal Goenka,

Vishal is a Senior Product Manager at Google
Vishal works on AdWords at Google. He joined Google in 2009 as a software engineer when his small advertising technology startup named Teracent, where Vishal was the chief architect, was acquired by Google. Vishal spent three years at Google in engineering roles and switched to Product Management in 2012. He also earned an MBA with honors during 2012-2014 from the Wharton’s MBA for executives program in San Francisco.Vishal earned his bachelors in Computer Science from IIT Kanpur in 1996 with a gold medal for best all-round performance. He held various software engineering positions at Novell, Campus Pipeline, Teracent, and Google until 2012.


Dilip Venkatachari,
VP, McKinsey Digital Labs

Dilip Venkatachari leads McKinsey Digital Labs in Palo Alto. He is a technology industry veteran, and, over the course of his career, has co-founded & led multiple startup companies, and has held senior executive leadership roles at Google, PayPal and Yahoo.

Dilip is a proud graduate of IIT Madras! He also received an MBA from the Harvard Business School and a Masters in EE from Rice University.

Dilip actively mentors entrepreneurs and early stage companies. He is a member of IIT Madras’s Entrepreneurship Forum in the Bay Area and was formerly the President of PanIIT USA.




Vic Mahadevan,
Chief Strategy Officr, NetApp

Vic Mahadevan was the Chief Strategy Officer for NetApp. In this role, Vic was responsible for leading NetApp’s business strategy and identifying additional market and product opportunities to fuel future growth. He led the company’s strategic planning and business development activities worldwide. Vic was also responsible for driving the strategic planning process,managing acquisitions, and supporting NetApp’s strategic alliances and partnership teams.

Before joining NetApp, Vic served as vice president of marketing for LSI Corporation, where he was responsible for driving all aspects of product management, outbound marketing and business alliances. Prior to LSI Corporation, Vic was chief executive officer for Deeya Energy. He has also held senior management positions with leading storage and systems management companies including BMC Software, Compaq, Ivita, and Maxxan Systems.

Vic holds an MBA in Marketing and MS in Engineering from the University of Iowa as well a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology.




Kumar Ganapathy,
Founder and CEO, Virident

Dr. Kumar Ganapathy has been an entrepreneur over the past 15 years focused on disrupting Information Technology markets with innovations in storage, DSP and computing technologies. He co-founded Virident Systems (Enterprise Flash Storage technology) in 2006, and currently serves as VP of Strategy and Products at HGST/Western Digital after its acquisition in 2013. Prior to Virident, he was Founder and CTO of VxTel (Voice over IP technology) which was acquired by Intel in 2001 and served in the CTO office of Intel for about 4 years after the acquisition. Before VxTel, he was an Engineering Fellow at Rockwell Semiconductors working on Modem and DSP technologies for 5 years.

He received his B.Tech from IIT Madras (1987), M.S from University of Massachusetts at Amherst, and Ph.D from University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign.




Neerav Berry,
Founder and CEO, Payplant

Neerav Berry is currently CEO and Co founder at Payplant. Before this Neerav was VP App World & Payment Services at Blackberry where he lead the development of Blackberry’’s app store and payment platforms. Previously, Neerav was Co-founder and COO at Cellmania, a leading mobile app store platform that was acquired by RIM in 2010.He also served as Vice-President, Marketing of Cellmania, Inc. Neerav has over 14 years of general management, marketing and engineering experience. He was previously Senior Director of Product Management for Broadvision where he managed product strategy, technology partnerships and technical marketing of this leading Enterprise Portal provider. Previously Mr. Berry held senior positions at Oracle and Synopsys.

Prior to MulticoreWare, AGK was the Co-founder, President and CEO of GDA Technologies, Inc (acquired by L&T Infotech and Rambus) a leading intellectual property licensing and electronics design services Company. AGK started his career in India in high technology with Pragati Computers, Wipro and HCL. He moved to USA as an early employee of HCL America, Inc and had leadership positions at Opti and Trident Microsystems.

On the non-profit front, AGK is President of the Pratham Bay Area and serves on the Board of India Community Center. He is actively involved with non-profits in Bay Area and India. AGK Karunakaran was the Co-Convener of TiEcon2015 and a Charter member of TIE Silicon Valley.




Subhash Chowdary,
Chief Executive Officer, Aankhen Inc.

Subhash was the Chief Architect at Apple Computer, USA where he co-authored the VITAL architecture pioneering the concept of portals, data warehousing and ‘web services’. The concepts were the foundation for content delivery and access using personal digital assistants (PDAs) such as smart phones and tablets. His unique experience spans management of manufacturing operations in India, geothermal energy based power generation in the US and deployment of information technology innovations at large multinational enterprises across the world such as Apple, American Airlines, Citgo, Nestle, Pfizer, Dell and Lockheed Martin.
Recent accomplishments include deploying the concept of ‘Shouldbe Cost®’ computation creating breakthroughs in global financial supply chain management. Physical supply chain innovations include the deployment of supply chain security and visibility leveraging automated data capture from internet of things (IoT), cloud and Bigdata technologies to build secure and intelligent real time supply chains.Mr. Chowdary has a BS in Mechanical Engineering, MS in Industrial Management from IIT Madras and an MS in Computer Science from University of Texas.


Amit Kumar,
VP and GM of Yahoo Small Business

Amit leads cross-functional teams building award-winning products, that help people worldwide start, build and grow their businesses as VP and GM of Yahoo Small Business. Amit joined Yahoo in August 2013 following the acquisition of Lexity, the app platform for e-commerce small businesses (now called Yahoo Commerce Central). Before founding Lexity, Amit was VP of Product for Dapper (also acquired by Yahoo) where he focused on semantic advertising. Prior to Dapper, he was Director of Product at Yahoo Search.

Amit has deep expertise in e-commerce, search, semantic web, and online advertising, as well as experience both founding startups and building new products for Fortune 500 companies. Amit is also a mentor for 500 Startups and the President of the IIT Delhi Alumni Association in North America.




Piyush Gupta,
Technology Executive, Entrepreneur, Mentor

After a 35 year technology career, Piyush now spends his time advising entrepreneurs and technology startups. From 2009-13, Piyush was Vice-President, Product Management at IBM with responsibility for various software product families including Information Integration, Big Data, Database & Warehousing. Piyush came to IBM via the acquisition of Exeros, where he was the founding CEO from 2004-09, growing it from inception through two rounds of financing, delivery of market leading products, acquisition of 20+ Fortune 500 customers, and the sale to IBM. During his startup career he raised about $50M in venture funds.

Prior to Exeros, Piyush was Founder/CEO of Promeria Software, a venture funded vendor of eSourcing software for the procurement of Direct Materials, sold in to Ariba during 2004. Promeria was an offshoot of, a venture funded consumer eCommerce reverse auction site that Piyush founded in 1999 and led as CEO. From 1995-97 Piyush was Vice-President Engineering at Informix Software, with cradle to grave responsibility for several product areas. From 1984-95, Piyush held various technical and management positions at IBM. Piyush started his IBM career at the Thomas J. Watson Research Center and left after delivering the pioneering EII Product, DataJoiner, (now called Federation Server) to the market in 1995. Early in his career, he spent three years developing Real-time Software at Schlumberger Corporation.

Piyush serves on the Board of Directors of Sirion Labs and Sherlock Data Science, and the Advisory Boards of BitYota, Guavus and WujiTech. He holds a B.Tech (EE) from IIT Kanpur, a Masters (CS) from UT Austin, and an MBA from Columbia Business School.




Debu Chatterjee,

Debu founded DxContinuum in 2012 because he believed that the growth of corporate Big Data has the key to solve the challenge every Sales Organization has – be predictable and consistent. With 25 years of experience in all things data – predictive analytics, business intelligence, distributed systems, databases, systems management, enterprise software, and security; and roles in areas of technical and business execution, strategy and delivery, global development and build vs buy decisions, he now leads DxContinuum, a company focused on solving the predictability challenges of Sales Organizations. Prior to being a startup founder, Debu was Vice President of Healthcare and Fraud Analytics at Fair Isaac. In that role, he delivered multi tenanted, multi modal deployment of highly scalable software solutions using predictive analytics to detect fraud abuse and waste in healthcare payor industry. Prior to that, Debu was at Informatica, a leading provider of enterprise data integration software, where he was fully responsible for Informatica Power Center, and the Connector suite of products. Prior to that, he worked at Oracle, where he managed and developed key technologies for the Database Server and Systems Management Products. Over 15 years, he delivered key Oracle technologies like Oracle Call Interface, Advanced Queues, Streams, and Oracle Enterprise Manager. He has been awarded 19 patents and has filed for numerous others. He was a founding Member of Enterprise Grid Alliance and has presented at other Grid Computing and Distributed Systems conferences.

Debu has an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, a Masters in Computer Science from the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill and a Bachelors in Computer Science from the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur.




Milind Bhandarkar,
Chief Scientist at Pivotal

Milind is software architect and development manager, specialized in large distributed data-intensive computing. At Pivotal, Milind’s team mission is to enable customers to build a new class of applications, leveraging big and fast data, and do all of this with the power of cloud-independence.

Milind was the founding member of the team at Yahoo! that took Apache Hadoop from 20-node prototype to datacenter-scale production system. Parallel programming languages and paradigms has been his area of focus for over 20 years. He worked at the Center for Development of Advanced Computing, National Center for Supercomputing Applications, Center for Simulation of Advanced Rockets, Siebel Systems, Pathscale Inc. (acquired by QLogic), Yahoo! and Linkedin.

Milind received his Ph.D. in Computer Science from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Milind holds a M. Tech. in Computer Science from IIT Kanpur and a M. Sc. in Computer Science from Birla Institute of Technology and Science.

Anil Advani,

Anil Advani specializes in the representation of early stage startup companies, venture funds, institutional angel investors and many prominent angel investors in silicon-valley and India. Nimish Mehta,

Nimish is a seasoned technology executive with more than 25 years of experience in managing global software businesses. Prior to LumenData, Nimish was Senior VP at SAP, Group VP at Siebel Systems and President and CEO of Stratify, which was acquired by Iron Mountain (NASDAQ:IRON) in a highly profitable transaction. Nimish also worked at Oracle for 11 years, where as Senior VP he reported directly to Larry Ellison. Nimish began his career as a Member of Technical Staff at AT&T Bell Laboratories. GD (Ram) Ramkumar,

G D (Ram) Ramkumar is CEO and co-founder of, a consumer mobile technology startup, incubated at Charles River Ventures. The company is funded by top notch venture investors. Ram has built great teams for several successful startups. SnapTell was acquired by subsidiary in 2009 and Sanera Systems was acquired by McDATA Corporation in 2003. Ram’s technical expertise is algorithms, data mining and applications to consumer mobile and Internet. He is experienced in building software products and leading projects from concept to delivery with rigorous execution. He has over fifteen years of software research and development experience with specialization in mobile internet consumer and data center technologies. Sundi Sundaresh,

Abhay Gupta,

Abhay Gupta is the Founder & CEO of Bidgely, an energy analytics company that uses the latest in cloud, big data and machine learning technologies to converts data generated by millions of Smart Meters into useful information. Abhay spent his initial years at Sun Microsystems doing hardware chip design. He then took product management roles at Echelon and Grid Net in the field of Sensor & Control Networks, Smart Meters/Smart Grid, Commercial Buildings, and LED lighting. After leaving Grid Net, he started Bidgely with a mission to accomplish energy efficiency at a massive scale leveraging the Utilities’ investment into Smart Meters infrastructure.

Prasad Kaipa,

Prasad Kaipa is no stranger to IIT alumni programs having been very active in the 90s and early 2000s in the bay area. He has been splitting his time between US and India in the recent years as he was asked to set up a leadership and innovation center in Indian School of Business, Hyderabad. He is also the co-founder of TiE Institute in the bay area and ran it for a couple of years. Prasad has been focused on developing leaders and innovators since he quit Apple in 1990. He has worked with many IITians in the bay area and around the world. Prior to joining Transera, Prem was Executive Vice President, Voice Portal Solutions at Genesys, where he was responsible for strategic direction and development of the company’s Voice Platform and Managed Service solutions. Prem joined Genesys in mid-2002 when the company he co-founded, Telera, was acquired by Genesys and its parent company, Alcatel. While at Telera, Prem served as Chief Executive Officer, and was the driving force behind the company’s success in the emerging VoiceXML platform and solutions market. Prior to co-founding Telera, Prem co-founded VOIS Corporation where he served as Chief Executive Officer. Before launching into his entrepreneurial efforts, Prem held Vice President and General Manager positions at Novell. He also served as Vice President of Engineering at Fluent and Samsung Software America. Prem also held engineering management positions with Bell Labs and Bellcore during his tenure in telecommunications, network management, multimedia and telephony.

Prem holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the University of Texas at Austin. He received his masters and undergraduate degrees in Electrical Engineering from IIT Bombay.




Prashant Shah,
TiE Silicon Valley

Prashant Shah has been an early stage venture investor since 2001. He is an active Charter Member of TiE Silicon Valley ( and a member of its Board of Directors. He also helped launch TiE Angels and is on its Steering Committee. Previously, he spent nearly 10 years at Hummer Winblad Venture Partners and was instrumental in many investments including Baynote, Bridgestream, Cenzic, EvoStor, InMage, Jareva Technologies, Krillion, Pancetera, Scalent, and Voltage Security. Prior to Hummer Winblad, Prashant spent many years defining and launching high tech products. His background spans all seven layers of the OSI stack with product management roles at enCommerce (acquired by Entrust), Cypress Semiconductor and AT&T. In addition, he was on the Board of Trustees for Astia ( from July 2007 to April 2011. Prashant received a BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and an MBA from the University of Chicago.




Dinesh Katiyar,
Accel Partners

Before joining Accel, Dinesh was Vice-President at Citrix, where he managed a suite of cloud and virtualization products. At Accel, he focuses on early stage cross-border (US/India) companies, in such areas as Technology, Internet, and Mobile.

Dinesh has been a successful serial entrepreneur in Silicon Valley. He was a founder at iLeverage (acquired by E.piphany) and SayNow (acquired by Google), and CEO at Small Device (acquired by Digital Chocolate). He also held positions with Sun and Motorola.

Dinesh holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Stanford University, and a Bachelors in Computer Science from IIT Kanpur, India.




Ashish Gupta,
Senior Managing Director and Co-Founder, Helion

Dr. Ashish Gupta is a co-founder of Helion and serves on the boards of NGPay, Zmanda, Komli, Pumatic, Digital Management Services, Jivox, Kirusa, MuSigma,, and SMS Gupshup. He has co-founded two successful companies- Tavant Technologies and Junglee that pioneered comparison shopping on the internet. He has also worked at Woodside Fund, Oracle Corporation and IBM research. His investments include Daksh (IBM), Odesk, Obongo (AOL), Speedera (Akamai), MakeMyTrip, Merittrac (Manipal Group), and Kaboodle (Hearst).

Ashish also serves on the Board of the Kauffman Fellows Program, the leading educational fellowship in venture capital; and the Foundation for Excellence that promotes education in India.

Ashish is a Kauffman Fellow, holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Stanford University, and a bachelor’s degree from IIT Kanpur where he was awarded the President’s Gold medal. He has authored several patents, publications, and a book by MIT press.




Ajit Gupta,
President and CEO

As the founder, President and CEO, Ajit is responsible for building the Aryaka vision and guiding the company’s strategy. Prior to Aryaka, Ajit founded AAyuja Inc., a Strategic Technology Sales Acceleration company, serving as its CEO. Ajit co-founded Speedera Networks in 1999. Under his leadership, Speedera became one of the fastest growing private companies as ranked by Deloitte & Touche and PricewaterhouseCoopers. Speedera was acquired in 2005 by Akamai Technologies (NASDAQ: AKAM) for more than $500 million. Ajit has also held various positions at Oracle, Sybase and Resonate.

Ajit holds a graduate degree in electrical engineering from the University of Alabama and an undergraduate degree in electrical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee, India. He is a founding board member of the IIT-Roorkee Heritage Fund.



Raj Jaswa, CEO,
President and Chairman

Raj Jaswa is the CEO, President, and Chairman of Dyyno, Inc. Prior to Dyyno, Raj was the President and Board Director of the Silicon Valley chapter of TiE. Prior to that, Raj served as Co-founder, Chairman, CEO, and President of Selectica (Nasdaq: SLTC), an enterprise software company. During Raj’s tenure, Selectica reached a peak market value of $5 billion. Prior to Selectica, Raj served as Co-founder and President of Opti (Nasdaq: OPTI), and previously as EVP of Sales & Marketing. Opti was the world’s largest supplier of PC chipsets.

Raj received a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the IIT, Bombay, a master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Toronto and an MBA from Stetson University, Deland, Florida.




Ranga Jayaraman,
Associate Dean and CIO, GSB, Stanford University

Ranga Jayaraman is Associate Dean and CIO at Stanford University Graduate School of Business and an advisor to technology start-ups and VCs. Ranga is a 28 year veteran of high tech industry. Most recently, he was the CIO at Nvidia. Prior to that, Ranga was CIO at Hitachi Global Storage Technologies. Ranga started his career as a research staff member at IBM Research and progressed through levels of management to Vice President of business information and transformation for Storage Technology Division of IBM. Ranga holds a PhD in mechanical engineering, MS in electrical and mechanical engineering from Stanford and a B. Tech. in mechanical engineering from Indian Institute of Technology Madras.
