Dheeraj is the Founder, CEO and Chairman of Nutanix. He brings a wealth of experience of working at high growth enterprise software companies. Prior to founding Nutanix, Dheeraj was the VP of Engineering at Aster Data (now Teradata), where he helped build the product and its engineering team from the ground up. At Oracle, he managed the storage engine group for Oracle Database/Exadata, and co-authored numerous patents in the area of distributed databases. Dheeraj’s entrepreneurial spirit has been recognized with a number of prestigious awards including Dell’s Founders 50 and the E&Y Entrepreneur of the Year, Silicon Valley. Dheeraj is a Ph.D. dropout from University of Texas (Austin), where he was a Graduate Fellow of CS. He holds a BS in CS from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT, Kanpur), where he was adjudged the “Best All-Rounder Student Among All Graduating Students in All Disciplines” and bestowed with the Distinguished Alumnus Award.

Ramesh Srinivasan is CEO of Ooyala. He oversees all aspects of Ooyala’s strategy and operations. Before joining Ooyala, Ramesh was President and Chief Executive Officer of Innotrac, a leading provider of e-commerce solutions for digital retailers, where he oversaw the company’s merger with eBay Enterprise. He also spent nine years with Bally Technologies (NYSE: BYI – later merged with Scientific Games), maker of advanced technology-based casino games and systems, where he rose from Executive Vice President for Systems to President and COO and then to CEO. During his tenure, the annual revenue run rate for the company grew from $500 million to $1.2 billion, while its share price increased eight-fold. Prior to joining Bally, Ramesh was EVP at Manhattan Associates (Nasdaq: MANH), a premier Supply Chain Solutions Provider. During his seven years at Manhattan, Ramesh’s results-based performance led his to his elevation from Director to Senior Director, VP, SVP and EVP, while the company’s annual revenues grew by approximately 500%. At Manhattan, Ramesh was responsible for building a world class Product Development and Support Center in India and his leadership in multiple areas, including cost effective Global R&D, Customer Support, Professional and Technical Services was instrumental in positioning Manhattan as a technology industry leader.

Ramesh holds an MBA (PGDM) from the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore, India and a Bachelor of Technology degree from the Indian Institute of Technology, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, India.

Dr. Kumar Ganapathy has been an entrepreneur over the past 15 years focused on disrupting Information Technology markets with innovations in storage, DSP and computing technologies. He co-founded Virident Systems (Enterprise Flash Storage technology) in 2006, and currently serves as VP of Strategy and Products at HGST/Western Digital after its acquisition in 2013. Prior to Virident, he was Founder and CTO of VxTel (Voice over IP technology) which was acquired by Intel in 2001 and served in the CTO office of Intel for about 4 years after the acquisition. Before VxTel, he was an Engineering Fellow at Rockwell Semiconductors working on Modem and DSP technologies for 5 years.

He received his B.Tech from IIT Madras (1987), M.S from University of Massachusetts at Amherst, and Ph.D from University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign.

Before this Neerav was VP App World & Payment Services at Blackberry where he lead the development of Blackberry’’s app store and payment platforms. Previously, Neerav was Co-founder and COO at Cellmania, a leading mobile app store platform that was acquired by RIM in 2010.He also served as Vice-President, Marketing of Cellmania, Inc. Neerav has over 14 years of general management, marketing and engineering experience. He was previously Senior Director of Product Management for Broadvision where he managed product strategy, technology partnerships and technical marketing of this leading Enterprise Portal provider. Previously Mr. Berry held senior positions at Oracle and Synopsys.

He moved to USA as an early employee of HCL America, Inc and had leadership positions at Opti and Trident Microsystems.

After a 35 year technology career, Piyush now spends his time advising entrepreneurs and technology startups. From 2009-13, Piyush was Vice-President, Product Management at IBM with responsibility for various software product families including Information Integration, Big Data, Database & Warehousing. Piyush came to IBM via the acquisition of Exeros, where he was the founding CEO from 2004-09, growing it from inception through two rounds of financing, delivery of market leading products, acquisition of 20+ Fortune 500 customers, and the sale to IBM. During his startup career he raised about $50M in venture funds.

Prior to Exeros, Piyush was Founder/CEO of Promeria Software, a venture funded vendor of eSourcing software for the procurement of Direct Materials, sold in to Ariba during 2004. Promeria was an offshoot of LiquidPrice.com, a venture funded consumer eCommerce reverse auction site that Piyush founded in 1999 and led as CEO. From 1995-97 Piyush was Vice-President Engineering at Informix Software, with cradle to grave responsibility for several product areas. From 1984-95, Piyush held various technical and management positions at IBM. Piyush started his IBM career at the Thomas J. Watson Research Center and left after delivering the pioneering EII Product, DataJoiner, (now called Federation Server) to the market in 1995. Early in his career, he spent three years developing Real-time Software at Schlumberger Corporation.

Piyush serves on the Board of Directors of Sirion Labs and Sherlock Data Science, and the Advisory Boards of BitYota, Guavus and WujiTech. He holds a B.Tech (EE) from IIT Kanpur, a Masters (CS) from UT Austin, and an MBA from Columbia Business School.

Prior to that, he worked at Oracle, where he managed and developed key technologies for the Database Server and Systems Management Products. Over 15 years, he delivered key Oracle technologies like Oracle Call Interface, Advanced Queues, Streams, and Oracle Enterprise Manager. He has been awarded 19 patents and has filed for numerous others. He was a founding Member of Enterprise Grid Alliance and has presented at other Grid Computing and Distributed Systems conferences.

Milind was the founding member of the team at Yahoo! that took Apache Hadoop from 20-node prototype to datacenter-scale production system. Prem Uppaluru,
President & CEO, Transera Communications

Prem brings to Transera his 25 years of experience in the telecommunications and networking industry and his keen entrepreneurial instincts. Prior to joining Transera, Prem was Executive Vice President, Voice Portal Solutions at Genesys, where he was responsible for strategic direction and development of the company’s Voice Platform and Managed Service solutions. Prem joined Genesys in mid-2002 when the company he co-founded, Telera, was acquired by Genesys and its parent company, Alcatel. While at Telera, Prem served as Chief Executive Officer, and was the driving force behind the company’s success in the emerging VoiceXML platform and solutions market. Prior to co-founding Telera, Prem co-founded VOIS Corporation where he served as Chief Executive Officer. Before launching into his entrepreneurial efforts, Prem held Vice President and General Manager positions at Novell. He also served as Vice President of Engineering at Fluent and Samsung Software America. Prem also held engineering management positions with Bell Labs and Bellcore during his tenure in telecommunications, network management, multimedia and telephony.

Prem holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the University of Texas at Austin. He received his masters and undergraduate degrees in Electrical Engineering from IIT Bombay.

Prashant Shah,
TiE Silicon Valley

Prashant Shah has been an early stage venture investor since 2001. He is an active Charter Member of TiE Silicon Valley (www.tiesv.org) and a member of its Board of Directors. He also helped launch TiE Angels and is on its Steering Committee. Previously, he spent nearly 10 years at Hummer Winblad Venture Partners and was instrumental in many investments including Baynote, Bridgestream, Cenzic, EvoStor, InMage, Jareva Technologies, Krillion, Pancetera, Scalent, and Voltage Security. Prior to Hummer Winblad, Prashant spent many years defining and launching high tech products. His background spans all seven layers of the OSI stack with product management roles at enCommerce (acquired by Entrust), Cypress Semiconductor and AT&T. In addition, he was on the Board of Trustees for Astia (www.astia.org) from July 2007 to April 2011. Prashant received a BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and an MBA from the University of Chicago.

Before joining Accel, Dinesh was Vice-President at Citrix, where he managed a suite of cloud and virtualization products. At Accel, he focuses on early stage cross-border (US/India) companies, in such areas as Technology, Internet, and Mobile.

Dinesh has been a successful serial entrepreneur in Silicon Valley. He was a founder at iLeverage (acquired by E.piphany) and SayNow (acquired by Google), and CEO at Small Device (acquired by Digital Chocolate). He also held positions with Sun and Motorola.

Dinesh holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Stanford University, and a Bachelors in Computer Science from IIT Kanpur, India.

Ashish Gupta,
Senior Managing Director and Co-Founder, Helion

Dr. Ashish Gupta is a co-founder of Helion and serves on the boards of NGPay, Zmanda, Komli, Pumatic, Digital Management Services, Jivox, Kirusa, MuSigma, Naukri.com, and SMS Gupshup. He has co-founded two successful companies- Tavant Technologies and Junglee that pioneered comparison shopping on the internet. He has also worked at Woodside Fund, Oracle Corporation and IBM research. His investments include Daksh (IBM), Odesk, Obongo (AOL), Speedera (Akamai), MakeMyTrip, Merittrac (Manipal Group), and Kaboodle (Hearst).

Ashish also serves on the Board of the Kauffman Fellows Program, the leading educational fellowship in venture capital; and the Foundation for Excellence that promotes education in India.

Ashish is a Kauffman Fellow, holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Stanford University, and a bachelor’s degree from IIT Kanpur where he was awarded the President’s Gold medal. He has authored several patents, publications, and a book by MIT press.

Ajit Gupta,

As the founder, President and CEO, Ajit is responsible for building the Aryaka vision and guiding the company’s strategy. Prior to Aryaka, Ajit founded AAyuja Inc., a Strategic Technology Sales Acceleration company, serving as its CEO. Ajit co-founded Speedera Networks in 1999. Under his leadership, Speedera became one of the fastest growing private companies as ranked by Deloitte & Touche and PricewaterhouseCoopers. Speedera was acquired in 2005 by Akamai Technologies (NASDAQ: AKAM) for more than $500 million. Ajit has also held various positions at Oracle, Sybase and Resonate.

Ajit holds a graduate degree in electrical engineering from the University of Alabama and an undergraduate degree in electrical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee, India. He is a founding board member of the IIT-Roorkee Heritage Fund.

Raj Jaswa, CEO,

Raj Jaswa is the CEO, President, and Chairman of Dyyno, Inc. Prior to Dyyno, Raj was the President and Board Director of the Silicon Valley chapter of TiE. Prior to that, Raj served as Co-founder, Chairman, CEO, and President of Selectica (Nasdaq: SLTC), an enterprise software company. During Raj’s tenure, Selectica reached a peak market value of $5 billion. Prior to Selectica, Raj served as Co-founder and President of Opti (Nasdaq: OPTI), and previously as EVP of Sales & Marketing. Opti was the world’s largest supplier of PC chipsets.

Raj received a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the IIT, Bombay, a master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Toronto and an MBA from Stetson University, Deland, Florida.

 

 

Ranga_Jayaraman

Ranga Jayaraman,
Associate Dean and CIO, GSB, Stanford University

Ranga Jayaraman is Associate Dean and CIO at Stanford University Graduate School of Business and an advisor to technology start-ups and VCs. Ranga is a 28 year veteran of high tech industry. Most recently, he was the CIO at Nvidia. Prior to that, Ranga was CIO at Hitachi Global Storage Technologies. Ranga started his career as a research staff member at IBM Research and progressed through levels of management to Vice President of business information and transformation for Storage Technology Division of IBM. Ranga holds a PhD in mechanical engineering, MS in electrical and mechanical engineering from Stanford and a B. Tech. in mechanical engineering from Indian Institute of Technology Madras.
